Guidelines for application by Australian JET participants

WHO CAN BORROW

Applicants must be Australian JET participants and meet the three requirements below.

  1. An Australian teacher/coordinator who contributes to English education in Japanese primary or junior high schools or international exchange programs in the area. (The kits are available for loan to non-profit schools and institutions only.)
  2. Should have the support and agreement from their supervisor for borrowing the kit. (The supervisor's acknowledgment is required to borrow the kit.)
  3. Must return the kit before the end of the loan period in good condition. Especially check that:
    • All items are there
    • The cricket set has been cleaned
    • School uniforms have been washed/ironed

BORROWING PERIOD

The borrowing period is from October 2009 to June 2010

FREIGHT

Users will be charged for the courier fee for both ways estimated between 1,500-2,000 yen each way depending on the area.

SELECTION OF APPLICANTS

A limited number of Experience Australia Kits (up to 30 kits) are available. In case of a large number of applicants, priority will be given to applications that propose an active and innovative use of the kit to teach about Australia.

To apply for a kit, access this online application form. The application deadline is 25 September 2009.

SCHEDULE

Online Applications close on 25 September 2009

Selection is made and successful applicants are contacted on September/October 2009

Despatch of the kits takes place upon returning of signed long-term lending agreements by successful applicants and their supervisors

Kits are returned by users by 30th June 2010


ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR BORROWING

Alternatively the Experience Australia Kit can be loaned from over 80 Japanese educational institutions around Japan. To find out if there is an institution in your area that has the Experience Australia Kit, please refer to this list. The loan period and conditions may vary so please ask the institution directly for further details (Note: some institutions do not speak Japanese so you may seek assistance from your school supervisor to organise the loan).
